Gizmodo has reported on a new accessory for road warriors, the AVIATOR Laptop Stand by office ergonomics manufacturer Keynamics. Since most business travellers are bringing laptops on the plane these days, the AVIATOR is designed specifically for airline tray tables, and the stand is on an incline so that you can sit up straight while typing and eliminate back-pain or other body stresses from hunching over the keyboard. And that could help a lot if your transit time is going to double as work time. Featuring a nine-ounce weight, simple assembly and a $19.99 price tag, as well as being invented and "Made in the U.S.A." this stand seems like a worthy travel accessory. The only thing that I wonder about is the images of somebody parking a Land Cruiser on the stand at the Keynamics site. With contemporary laptop weights peaking at about 7 or 8 pounds (and that's for the less portable "desktop replacements" like Mac's grande-sized 17 inch PowerBooks) I'm not sure what they're trying to prove. Also, it's unclear what material the stand is constructed from--lightweight titanium? High tech carbon fiber? Regular plastic? This could warrant a field test.
