A major collection of ancient Greek and Roman art is on display again following a nearly seventy-year hiatus. As USA Today points out, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art recently unveiled a tremendous collection of Greek and Roman art that had been in storage since the 1940's. The brand-new Greek and Roman Galleries are the highlight of the Met's ongoing $220 million renovation, and feature 11 galleries displaying 5,300 objects. The objects are displayed in chronological order, from the reign of Greek ruler Alexander the Great (336-323 B.C) to the reign of Roman emperor Constantine the Great (A.D. 306 to 337). A breathtaking atrium gallery houses Roman sculptures from the first century B.C. through third century A.D. including an enormous statue of Hercules. Guests at the St. Regis Hotel, New York or any of Starwood's properties in the city might enjoy this significant new exhibition of objects from the ancient world.
